As you know, the goal of the missions will be to survive during X days. These days will be equal to real-life days. When you're in a mission, the only way to live it is to die (to lose) or to survive X days, and to win. Either way, you get teleported back to the Gravediggers Headquarters (the "lobby") where you can rest, discuss with some other players or choose another mission.

We don't want to make them last only a few days, and they will most probably require you to survive between 15 and 30 days to win. However, we are not sure about the number. 15, 20, 25, 30? Tell us your opinion :wink:

i will submot my vote after i will know what the hell can i do in 15 days if the zombies are out there?
what happens if i will be offline a week for a summer expedition for example?
and if we die, what will happen to the stuff?

You just don't help your town to survive, so it has one chance less to complete the mission. If the number of zombies grows over the limit (either because everyone is dead or because nobody can fight them), the mission is lost. If you are offline and the mission succeeds, you (will probably probably) get the mission completion's xp bonus. If you are offline and the mission loses (too many zombies), you are automatically killed when you connect again.

now my opinion is that we can select this number of days via dialog in a say button(within some limits) or with dialog option:
How many days you think you can handle?
(15)Not a lot,2 weaks, i am not veary powerfull
(20)3 weeks only, i can't stand those zombies a lot of time
(25)a lot, but not a mouth, i will do my best
(30)A mount, to bad if i will stay longer i will starv to death...

If individual mission timing are technicaly do able, it is not the way to go from an overhaul vue.
The question here is just for beta stage.

At end, we plane to had some missions inside the main mission. Some could be individual, some other for little squad and so. Such system would allow player to better manage their playtime, and add some "dynamic action/life" on the map. During beta, your only mission will be staying alive. :cool:

First 15, then 20, then 25, finally 30. Test it and increase features each time. Seems the best choice to me.

I went with 15, Mainly because that is still quite some time.
Lets say, most of the population of SD go on a mission and you die early? Would you need to wait 15 days? or would you need to join a smaller game with very little chance of winning?

Also I think you should make late joins available, probally 7 Real Life Days Max?

Went together with these both. 15 days is indeed a time nonethelesss, 2 weeks ain't no joke. However, since this is Beta (well, more like alpha, but I presume this game will someday become beta version) we can feel free to experiment.

Oh and by the way... Did you edit the forums icon? Like... before there was this moon or something, now there is a ghoul... I love it!

Dont care about it Overdose. There will be a few simultanate session of our unique map. So, if you die in one you can join another... But dying in all and your character will still drinking beer in HQ for the rest of his life :wink:
So please, people, just considering the question from pure player point of vue :

It depends on the style of gameplay - if it get's more and more interesting with each day, the map is huge (or just very interesting to explore over and over again), I would surely stay there for about 20-25 days. However, I, as a busy man who can't really go 100% of his life on video games, still stick to 15-20.

well, i can't stay with the same stuff going on ech day, if we change a bit the action(like in one day will come ultra zombies with High Health and other day some suply ppl with barther skill, also if we have a food sistem) we can stay even 30 days, but if we do the same shit over and over(killing zombies->exploring->stay off 23 hours->kill zombies.......)we will get used to te map and we will get bored after 5 days

Sure, we know that you dont have enough information about features to build a real mind.
The idea is that 1 mission is at least 1 story for your character. So the question behind is "how long do you want one story been ?"

wait, how about we write a jurnal in our pip-boys, and after the mission we can upload it in an computer inside the main base and ultimately post them on forum in some sort of automatic poster

or at least have the power to tell write the storys in game

I agree with Shangalar. For now it is hard to propose anything. Personally i suggest number between 21 and 28 days depending on features of mission. But if the mission duration has to be constant, i vote 20.

Hmmm... for me, it depends on how being offline is handled? If all I have to do is log off and my character is safe after 180 seconds or so, then yeah, string it out. Now, if there is a risk that my character is in danger while I'm offline (eg active players defending a "safe house" full of offline players "resting", that's a different story, too long of a grind might be a hassle, though i think it would add to the flavor of the game to have to defend offline buddies.

I think a happy middle ground would be to have an evac convoy roll by at the 15,20,25, and 30 day mark. The longer you stay, the higher the risk, but the greater the reward.



But thats not really what your asking for, so my vote is 30 days, just to be a sadist.
